Assistant Chief Mitch Bartley

Assistant Chief Mitch Bartley graduated the South Plains Associations of Government Academy in Lubbock, Texas in 1983. Chief Bartley spent a combined 5 years with the South Plains College Police Department and Levelland Police Department before he started his career with the Waxahachie Police Department in 1988. During his 20 plus years at Waxahachie, he has served in many different roles. Chief Bartley has worked in Patrol, Criminal Investigations, SWAT, Narcotics and Administration. During the 9 years Chief Bartley worked narcotics; he was appointed and served as the Narcotics Task Force Commander. In June 2009 Bartley was promoted to Assistant Chief of Administration and in March 2011 he was appointed Assistant Chief over Operations. 

Chief Bartley has earned a Master Peace Officers License and holds instructors certifications as a NRA & Police Firearms Instructor, Taser Instructor, PepperBall Instructor, Doppler Radar Instructor, and is a certified Law Enforcement Thermographer.

From August 1, 2014 until March 8, 2015 Chief Bartley served as interim Chief while the City of Waxahachie was undergoing a search for a new chief.
